Sharman Joshi comes from one of India's leading Gujarati theatre families - his father Arvind Joshi and sister Mansi Joshi Roy are longtime stage and screen actors. Sharman trained in theatre before moving into Hindi cinema with Style (2001) and going on to lead and co-lead Golmaal, Rang De Basanti, Life in a... Metro, and Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots, where he played Raju Rastogi.
He has continued to work in Hindi film, streaming, and theatre - Mission Mangal, Kaagaz, State of Siege. He is also a long-time stage presence in English and Gujarati theatre productions.
