Sushmita Sen
First Indian Miss Universe, actor, and single mother whose second act spans streaming, wellness, and mentorship.
Sushmita Sen became the first Indian to win the Miss Universe title in 1994, at age 18. She went on to a decades-long film career with roles in Biwi No. 1, Main Hoon Na, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, among others. Her streaming-era return as the lead in Disney+ Hotstar's Aarya earned an International Emmy nomination and a wide new audience.
Sen has adopted two daughters as a single mother - a public journey that has shaped her voice on parenting, choice, and independence. She is a long-time advocate for women's health and wellness and has spoken extensively about recovering from a heart attack in 2023.
On stage she draws on beauty, cinema, and motherhood to speak about identity, resilience, and living without apology.
