Saina Nehwal

Olympic bronze medallist; first Indian woman to reach world #1 in badminton.

Saina Nehwal is one of India's most decorated badminton players. She won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics - India's first-ever Olympic medal in badminton - and in April 2015 became the first Indian woman to reach world #1 in the BWF singles rankings.

Her career spans Commonwealth Games gold medals, a World Championship silver, and a long list of BWF Super Series and Grand Prix titles. She has been awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the Padma Shri, and the Padma Bhushan.

Nehwal speaks about the long, un-glamorous build that precedes an Olympic medal - the Hyderabad training routine, her family's support, and the mental game of being the first woman from a country at the top of a sport.
