Bajrang Punia
World and Asian wrestling medallist; Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist.
Bajrang Punia is an Indian freestyle wrestler who competes in the 65 kg category. He won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has medalled multiple times at the World Wrestling Championships, Asian Games, Asian Championships, and the Commonwealth Games.
He has been awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and the Padma Shri, and is regarded as one of the most consistent Indian wrestlers of his generation. In 2023–24, Punia was among the leading voices in the Indian wrestlers' protest against the then-sitting Wrestling Federation of India administration.
On stage, Punia draws on Haryana's wrestling culture, the discipline of long-cycle Olympic training, and the responsibilities athletes carry as public figures beyond the mat.
